Gordon describes himself in three words: "open-minded and inquisitive". Gordon is a prototypical second-generation computer user. His mother is a stay-at-home transcriptionist, and has used a computer in the small home office since 1986. Gordon was fascinated by the machine at a young age, and from his ninth birthday onward has had a computer to call his own. He advanced quickly through the computer science courses in high school, earning a 5 on the AP Computer Science exam in his sophomore year. He self-assesses his internet usage at 6-8 hours daily and "checks e-mail whenever [he's] near a computer". Gordon's favorite website is Google, and he uses the Gentoo Linux distribution, with a Macbook on the side as a graduation gift. Gordon also checks the weather constantly and reads RSS feeds, including the Google blog.

But Gordon is more than the stereotypical nerd. His favorite pastimes include a great game of Ultimate Frisbee, and he's interested in mixing up his own trance music ("Right now I've got only software mixing stuff," he says, "but I hope to get a hardware mixer once I've got the money.") He loves to watch College Football and cheer on the Spartans of Michigan State. His favorite TV shows are Battlestar Galactica, 24, and Firefly. Gordon's biggest goal is to get into Boston more. "I'm from this little town in Michigan and nothing cool happens. Now that I've been here a few years, I want to get into Boston more and meet people, maybe from Harvard or MIT." Gordon drives a 1998 Toyota Rav4.
