PS3 Tips and Tricks
So, my dad wanted a BlueRay player. I asked him how much it cost. He said anywhere from $400 to $1100. I said, well, if you're willing to spend $400 for a BlueRay player, why not just get a PS3?
So here I am, with my very own PS3.
80710101 and 80710102 DNS Errors
This one threw me for a loop. At first I had some troubles with DHCP, but I fixed that by uninstalling some OpenWRT packages and setting up stuff right. I'm using a wired connection, and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what the heck was wrong.
I thought that my DNS was totally borked, but that didn't make sense, because my laptop was working fine, if a bit slow. I checked the PS3 to see if internet browsing worked, and google came up, no problem.
Some more googling turned up this: http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=65147
Custom set-up your PS3's wired (or wireless connection) to use the following DNS server IPs:
- 129.250.35.250
- 129.250.35.251
Solved the problem.
Update
I'm now using OpenDNS for my PS3:
- 208.67.222.222
- 208.67.220.220
Further Update
One of the firmware upgrades seems to have resolved this issue entirely, and I just use my router's DNS.
